Gaming Floor
The modern and attractive gaming floor at Opera House Casino Scarborough compromises a selection of traditional table games along with a range of £10,000 jackpot slots, £20,000 progressives and electronic touch bet roulette terminals. Unlike some casinos in Yorkshire, all of the tables and machines here are well spaced out so it is easy to move freely around the floor without any sensation of it being crowded.
Live gaming takes place in the heart of the casino and is available from 6 pm Monday – Thursday and from 4 pm Friday – Sunday. Gamblers will find a total of 9 tables which offer the likes of American Roulette, Blackjack (including Perfect Pairs and 21+3 side bets), Three Card Poker and Cajun Stud Poker. Progressive jackpots are available on Blackjack and Three Card Poker, plus there’s also a progressive side bet called Run for Riches on the American Roulette.
If you arrive earlier there is still plenty to keep you occupied as the venue boasts some of the industry’s most recent multi-game slot machines and electronic roulette terminals which are available to play on from open until close. Mahjong is also available upon request.
Learn to play sessions were introduced in 2017 which have become very popular. These sessions take place at dedicated tuition tables in the Upper Circle. Feel free to talk to the staff for more information.
Whilst not technically part of the gaming floor it is also worth mentioning the Opera House Betting shop which is located right next to the casino and allows gamblers to place bets on the football, dogs, horses, lotto and more.
Poker
Opera House Casino hosts Texas Hold’em tournaments every Monday and Thursday with additional special events and competitions held throughout the year. Cash poker is played on the first Friday of every month and additional cash games are available upon request.
Registration for all tournaments begins at 6:30 pm with the action getting underway at 7:30 pm. An early bird bonus of 500 – 1500 chips (dependent upon the competition) is awarded to every player who is registered and seated in the poker room by 7:30 pm. It’s also worth mentioning that they also offer late registration on the tournaments until 9 pm.
For more information please visit the official website or contact the casino directly.
Bar & Restaurant
Should you fancy a break from gaming you can purchase a refreshing drink from one of two main bars. The “Stage Bar” is the largest of the two and overlooks the gaming floor whilst the “Stalls Bar” plays host to poker tournaments.
The Stage Bar also features an adjacent lounge which is not only the perfect place to relax with friends but you can enjoy a meal there too. It isn’t a restaurant so to speak, so don’t expect anything fancy or come here for a romantic dinner, but they serve sandwiches and snacks throughout the day plus they have a full menu available in the evenings which offers tasty steaks from the grill along with burgers, fish and chips, steak pie and more.
Upstairs they have a private function room which accommodates 140 guests and is ideal for parties and Stag and Hen dos. They will cater to your every need with a choice of nibbles, buffets or sit down meals, plus you will also get access to your very own bar.
Promotions, Events & Entertainment
Opera House Casino Scarborough brand themselves as “North Yorkshire’s Premier Entertainment Venue” which means you can expect more than just gambling here.
Every Saturday night the venue hosts live entertainment from 11:30 pm plus they also host several themed nights throughout the year. Full details on all of the special events can be found on the official website, however, in general, you can expect to pay around £24 for the entertainment, a two-course meal and a free £5. All in all, it is pretty good value for an entertaining and memorable night out.
Other highlights at the casino include a “slots party” on the last Tuesday of the month where you can enjoy a free glass of bubbly, a free hot buffet and a £10 cash match voucher from 7 pm. Live football is also broadcast throughout the venue on huge 60-inch screens so you can grab a pint of Fosters, Carling or John Smiths for £2.50, sit back and enjoy the game.
